About Neelakanth Mahadev Temple
This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated at an altitude of 1330 ft surrounded by Nar-Narayan Hilly region and dense forest. The temple is closely related to Hindu Mythology, which says that it is in this spot, Lord Shiva has consumed the Poison (Halahala)which came out of sea, while Devas and Asuras were churning the Sea in order to get “Amrita” (a drink which gives immortality). Nearby the temple two rivers namely Pankaja and Madhumita merge together. Also tourists can gets a picturesque view of three valleys namely Manikoot, Bhramakoot, and Vishnukoot which embraces the temple. This temple is an important pilgrimage center for Hindus.
