Rishikesh, called as “Dev Bhoomi (Land of God)” is nestled on the lower part of Himalaya. It is situated exactly 42 km from Dehradun, the capital city of Uttrakand State in Northern India. This place is the beginning point or like a base camp for pilgrims or trekkers to reach four main (Char Dham) Hindu Pilgrimage spots namely Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Rishikesh is embraced by lovely picturesque hilly regions, through which River Ganga swirls. This land plays vital role in Indian Epics and Indian Heritage. It is spiritually oriented.
It is not only a starting point for important Hindu Pilgrimage, also renowned center for Yoga and Meditation. Every year in the first week of February, “The International Yoga Week” is organized in Rishikesh, where people all over the World indulge in yoga on the banks of River Ganga. India’s well known Ashrams and Yoga Centers are scattered around in and around of Rishikesh. Thus Rishikesh is also place where one can calm the body and soul from city hustles and bustles.
