The War Memorial at the Parade Ground of the Garwhal Rifles Centre, built in 1923, is the must see site in Lansdowne. The Regimental Museum contains rare souvenirs and memorabilia of the Garwhal rifles.
The St. Mary’s church was designed by Colonel A.H.B. Hume in 1895. It was abandoned in 1947 due to wear and tear but was later restored by the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre. Currently it houses Pre-independence era photographs and audio visual accounts of the Regiments history, The Garwhali mess is probably one of the oldest buildings in Lansdowne. It was built in 1888. It is a well preserved heritage site today
St.Johns church is a Roman Catholic Church built in 1936. Other places of worship to see are the Santoshi Mata Temple, the Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple, and the Bhairav Garhi temple. During the autumn season the ‘Sharadotsav’ or the ‘Festival of Autumn’ is organized
Lansdowne in Uttarakhand offers the perfect venue for outdoor enthusiasts as it has various types of trekking and hiking trails. The trek to Tip in Top (also known as Tiffin top) is a trail through thick forest land and uneven terrain with a breathtaking view of the Himalayas as a bonus while the Hawagarh is trek which passes through the Khyber Pass to Jaiharikhal .You can also enjoy boating, bird-watching, paddling at Bhulla Tal, which is an artificial lake which is a tribute to the Jawans of Garwhal rifles. The place also has a children’s park nearby.
Lansdowne is well connected by road. Lansdowne is about 40 KMs from Kotdwar, 80 KMs from Pauri and 250 KMs from Delhi. Buses to Kotdwar and Dugadda are available from ISBT Delhi.
There are many places to stay while at Lansdowne, which are comfortable and will fit your pocket: Blue pine resort, Fairydale resort, Lansdowne villa to name a few. Lansdowne can be visited throughout the year. However, if you are going for the snowfall January and February are the months to visit.
