About Butterfly Park
The Butterfly Park in Sector 26, the second in India, is a little known park of Chandigarh. This quaint park is beautiful and is a home to about 35 species of butterflies. The park is spread over an area of 7 acres and is full of vegetation with a variety of trees and shrubs. Located in the heart of the city, it offers tranquility, peace and nature at its best as multi-coloured butterflies flutter all around. A few prominent among these are Angled Castor, Common Grass Yellow, Apefly, Common Blue Bottle, Blue Mormon, Chocolate pansy and Commander, etc. A variety of flowering plants such as Petunia, Marigold, Salvia, Dahlia, Lantana, Gazenia, and other species are also planted in the butterfly park to provide natural conditions to the butterflies. March to October is the best time to visit and watch the colorful butterflies. Even though these can be seen throughout the year but during winter, few species go into hibernation. All in all, it's a very pleasant experience for nature lovers and children.
