About Sukhna Lake
The Sukhna Lake is a man made lake near the foothills of Sivalik range of the HImalayas. The lake was created when the seasonal stream, Sukhna Choe, was dammed. The lake is Le Corbusier’s greatest creation and keeps true to his words that the residents of the city would be drawn it for the 'care of the body and spirit'. The lake offers serenity and a perfect picnic spot. People can be seen strolling, jogging on the promenade which is marked on the lake's perimeter. You can sight various migratory birds, like, Siberian duck, Storks and Cranes, as well. So, the lake has been declared a protected national wetland by the Government of India.
Take a boat out and watch Chandigarh from a different perspective, the birds float in the waters’ reflection, fish dance in the depths, lean back and watch the beautiful city from a distance.
Timings: 5:00AM to 9:00PM, all days of the week.
