Ballari Gudda , Bellary
About Ballari Gudda
Ballari Gudda spreads over an area of 2 miles and a height of 480 feet. The rock from northeast to southwest is about 1150 ft. The Southeast part is covered with irregular heap of boulders, the West is an unbroken monolith, and bare rugged ridges wall the North. The Ballari Gudda, or Bellary Fort, was constructed in two parts, the Upper Fort and the Lower Fort. The Upper Fort was built by Hanumappa Nayaka during Vijaynagar Empire's reign and the Lower Fort was built by Haider Ali. The Bellary Fort also was a cantonment area of the British. There is a lot of history and heritage to experience here.
