About Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary
The Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1976 and has been set up under the 1972 wildlife protection act. It is spread over a vast area of 245 sq feet and located close to Mahasamund. The topography of the place consists of both hilly and flat terrains. The sanctuary is rich in biodiversity; one can experience harmony with the nature here. The sanctuary is covered with thick lush green trees of Sal, teak, bamboo trees, Mahua, tendu, ber and seemal trees.The place is rich in fauna also sloth bears, flying squirrels, jackals, four-horned antelopes, leopards, chinkara, black bucks, jungle cats, barking deer, porcupines, and monkeys. The park is also a delight for bird watchers as the sanctuary attracts avian fauna from world over.
