About Muniyaras
Found at the foot of the Ambukuthi Hill are a series of old burial vaults. The burial vaults are called Muniyaras. The vaults look like little stone houses; they are roofed overground caves constructed of stone. The Muniyaras can be found one kilometer from Marayoor. The Muniyaras are also sometimes called Dolmens.
The potteries from stone age found at Muniyaras are exhibited in the Wayanad Heritage Museum, located in Ambalavayal.
