About Boudhanath
Situated in the northeast of Kathmandu, Boudhanath is place just what we say, “Right out from a movie”. I suggest you spending a day or two here.
Located on what was a major trade route once between Nepal and Tibet this place still has many handcraft stores. This is the focal point for the Buddhist and Tibetan related items like statues, prayer flags, Tibetan incense etc.
There are some hotels and lodges where you can easily get a room for yourself. Don’t expect something out of the box here. As the lives of the living souls here the rooms too are very basic and minimal. Check bulletin boards in café’s / bakeries for individuals offering rooms for rent.
Indulge yourself in the beautiful scenery, the authentic Tibetan / Nepalese food, yoga sessions, volunteer works, galleries or museums. Or you can simply get lost in the world’s largest stupa, Boudhnath Stupa. Most other interesting sites are all located around it. What intrigues me is the fusion blend here. Monks in neon sports shoes and iPods. The evenings are particularly beautiful with the sound of traditional music, chants that changes the aura of this entire place. Clear your head and thoughts. Enjoy the small things in life. There is so much to do in few days. But realize that it is not about doing but being.
