About Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath is a stupa located about 11 km from the center of Kathmandu, Nepal. The Boudhnath stupa’s colossal mandala marks it as one of the largest stupas in Nepal. It was built during the 5th century AD. It is believed that tons of gold was used for the construction of this massive stupa. Owing to the history behind the creation of this stupa the locals of Nepal believe that if a person circles around this stupa, even once, will be granted one chance to make amends of the sins that he has committed. To enter the stupa area, only a small fee of 150 Nepalese rupees is required.
