About Pokhara Regional Museum
As the name suggest, the Pokhara Regional Museum is all about the place, the different communities and particular practices in the region. The late king Birendra Bir Bikram shah inaugurated the museum in 1985. The museum has huge maps of Nepal, trekking maps to the various ranges, history of some of the significant people in Nepal.
Pokhara Regional Museum talks about popkhara and its people, how life has changed since ‘then’ and ‘now’. A sample Newari house is constructed, inside which you can experience what a typical newari life looked like before technology and modernization took over. Samples and real life displays of classic utensils, jewelry, gears and weapons and the ethnic practices have been displayed. The Museum is a pretty nice way to learn things about Pokhara which have been long forgotten. Pokhara regional museum is the second largest museum of Pokhara, located in Naya bazaar, about 3kms from the lake side.
