About Marathur
Marathur is 17km north of Chidambaram. It is primarily an agricultural distrct; driving here from Chidambaram you can see the light of the sun dapple on the paddy fields. Rice is grown year round, in summer pulses are grown too. The village is a good place to watch the agricultural rhythms of rural south India. Some ancient temples are also located here.
