About Moti Bagh Palace
One of the largest residence place of world, Moti Bagh Palace was the place where royal family of Patiala Maharaja’s resided until 1940. The honor of constructing this tremendous piece of architecture goes to Maharaja Narinder Singh who started building this palace in 1847 at a cost of five lakhs. Later in 1920, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh made changes to the palace. After independence, the royal family shifted to New Moti Bagh Palace and the old palace complex was handed over to Indian Government by Maharaja Yadavinder Singh. North Zone Culture Center, National Institute of Sports etc functions from the Moti Bagh Palace Complex. Well laid terraced garden, water ways, skillfully decorated grills and domes, arched front gates etc amuses the tourists. Splendid sculptures and artifacts ornate the palace.
