About Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park takes its origin in the mid-hills on the northern fringe of the Kathmandu Valley. With a little span of area of around 159 km per square, the park derived its name from the Shivpuri peak which has an altitude of 2,732 meters and about 12 km away from the center of capital city. Shivapuri (2732m) is the second highest peak among the hills surrounding the Kathmandu Valley.
The climate in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is mostly favorable and the precipitation rate is also not much. The region shares a transition zone between subtropical and temperate climate. The opportunity of bird watching is a major attraction of this park. If the chirping of birds, and flapping of their feathers is what amuses you, this is the place for you. Apart from this, it is regarded as the most lively and active park as one will always feel the presence of monkeys in the forests and if you're lucky, you can also witness some bears. The National Park is perfect for mountain bikes and hiking. The trekking routes to Nagarkot, Gosaikunda and Helambu pass through the park. With so much attributing to it, it’s a spot on vacation destination too. Since the construction is not much dated, the park has a well maintained infrastructure than others and here, tourists can also vouch for good and well finished lodges.
