About Humayun Mosque
The Humayun’s Mosque in Fatehabad, Hisar district was erected on an already standing Lat (a stone pillar placed by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq) by the Mughal Emperor Humayun. The mosque took 30 unhurried years to be completed, i.e. from 1526 to 1556. In the western direction of the mosque there is a wall made of Lakhauri bricks which nestles a stunning mihrab. This mosque has implemented a Persian architectural design; even though it is small it is considered to be an imperative structure which marks the commencement of Mughal rule in India. The Idgah in mosque has two inscriptions, one which contains a piece of writing which praises Humayun and the other one is a prayer in Arabic language dedicated to Ali. Its limited but decent space can accommodate over a thousand people for prayers held every Friday.
