About Amritavarshini Vav
Amritavarshini Vav is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is also known as Panchkuva Stepwell or Kathkuni Vav. As the name Panchkuva itself suggests, this stepwell consists of five individual wells. The architecture is not what you will call something very grand but it is a true example of the saying, “Simplicity is the best ornament.” You won’t find big, elaborate structures adorning the place. It has a simple basic architecture built in the 18th century. It is three storied and was built for charitable reasons. It is approximately 50 feet deep. This stepwell was declared a State Protected Monument in 1969 and since then, various measures have been adopted to restore this place to its original grandeur.
