About Karad Hills
Karad Hills is a small township in Satara which is situated on the confluence of River Krishna and River Koyna. This particular meeting point is a well known tourist spot known as Preeti Sangam, with an abundant ambience filled with serenity. Buddhist caves near Karad are also a chief tourist attraction site. Legend says that Karad was where Lord Ram once stopped over and where Sahadeva one of the Pandavas lived. It also has a bit of a Mughal influence, considered to be a meeting point for followers traveling to Haji. One can also find Jama Masjid, a twin minaret mosque located in the central area of the settlement. Karad is an excellent producer of sugar in the state of Maharashtra.
