Supposedly a water temple this step well, believed to be built by the legendary ruler Agrasen, Agrasen ki Baoli is one of the ancient sites popular among college students for hangouts and photographers to try their hand at architectural photography. According to Archeological Survey of India (ASI), it is designated as an important and protective monument.
However, it seems to have haunted stories attached to it, which makes the place even more interesting for the explorers. This magnificent step-well has 103 steps and has three floors above it. It is carved and lined remarkably with window arches and passages. Agrasen ki Baoli is located on Hailey Road, near Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Some parts Bollywood movie PK were shot here which brought this forgotten monument in quite a limelight. Since the movie this attraction has become quite a regular stop on tourist itineraries along with places like Humayun's tomb and Jantar Mantar.
Closest Metro station is Barkhamba road and Rajiv Chowk station is also nearby. Agrasen ki Baoli remains open all through the week including Sundays.
It is a beautiful spot to breath ancient history during early hours while the birds chirp and is a supposedly in the heart of New Delhi.
