About Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary
Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary has an area of 681.99 km² which swarms with wildlife located in the Munger district of Bihar which is 30 km away from the city of Kharagpur. It got its name from the popular legend Bheem, one of the five Pandava brothers, from Mahabharata, constructed a dam here. This place is home to animals like Leopard, Tiger, Golden jackal, Bear, Bison, Cheetahs, Pangolin Flying squirrels, Wolf etc. There are hot springs adjacent to the sanctuary namely Rishi Kund and Sita Kund .the rich flora and fauna of this place surely offers a cherishable experience to all those who happen to visit them.
The best time to visit the sanctuary is during November to March. One has to obtain a prior permission to enter to this place from the forest department office in Kharagpur. Bunglows are available near the sanctuary itself. Other attractions near the Sanctuary are -the Kumari Falls, Rameshwar Kund and Kharagpur Lake. The bus and jeep facilities available from kharagpur make your traveling experience easy to this place. Do not forget to carry all your essentials like some instant food , medicines , camera and binoculars enjoy the feeling of being amidst nature and its beautiful creations which includes you and everything else that you see around.
