Dibru Saikhowa National park, a biosphere reserve is located in Assam State nearby Tinsukia town. The Dibru Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is a natural Assamese island paradise. The island consists of grasslands, dense forests, and wetlands which are surrounded by the Brahmaputra. The sanctuary exhibits tremendous diversity by preserving a wide range of flora and fauna due to which it has rightfully attained its spot among the 19 biodiversity hotspots of the world. Brahmaputra, Lohit and Dibru rivers make boundaries of national park. Due to these rivers, the reserve park has rich varieties of fish. Situated in the flood plains of Brahmaputra, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is a complex of wetlands, grasslands, semi-evergreen forests and swamps.

In 1986 the Assamese Government had united the Dibru and Saikhowa reserve forests and had declared the resultant amalgamation as a wildlife sanctuary.

The wildlife sanctuary hosts a variety of atypical species like the White Feral Horses, White Winged Wood Duck, and Gangetic River Dolphin. The Slow Loris, Water Buffalo, Pelican, Black Stork, and so on are examples of other species present at the sanctuary. Rare species like White-winged wood duck, Feral Horses, capped langur, tiger, Hoolock Gibbon, Gangetic River Dolphin and the Wild Buffalo are well conserved within the reserve park. A huge collection of herbs and medicinal plants are also cultivated here.

Boat ride is the best way to see the park, although walking is also allowed in some parts of the park but you need to accompany a guide. Park is open throughout the year but best time to visit is from Nov to March. Tourists need to take permission for entry into the park at Tinsukia.

Once here, there a lot of activities that visitors can add to their list like taking a boat ride to Maguri matapung beel to spot migratory birds, visiting the Laika and Dodhia villages to experience the lifestyle of Assamese tribes, tourists can also admire the Kekjori trees or take part in adventure sports like trekking.

Guijan Ghatand Saikhowa ghat are the two entry points into the park. Dibrugarh is the nearest airport while Tinsukia is the nearest major town. Eco lodges are available to facilitate the tourists visiting this national park. The park can be accessed by tourists generally from November to April.
