Vivekananda House popularly known as Vivekanadar Illam is located on the shores of Bay of Bengal facing the Marina Beach. The house once served as godowns to store the ice blocks bought from Great Lakes of North America by British. Swami Vivekananda stayed in this house for nine days in 1897. Now maintained by Ramakrishna Math, Vivekananda House now houses a Permanent Exhibition on Indian Culture and Swami Vivekananda’s Life.
Many paintings of Swamiji and various artworks depicting the Indian Culture is on display at Vivekananda House.
