About Khecheopalri Lake
Khechoperi lake (also known as Khechuperi or Khecheopalri) is a sacred lake in Sikkim, holy to both Buddhists and Hindus. It is located at a distance of about 150 kms from Gangtok, close to Pelling town in West Sikkim. This beautiful and serene lake is situated at an altitude of about 1700 mts and is home to diverse vegetation as well as several species of birds and fish. Ecotourism is encouraged in this region to prevent deterioration of natural environment. The biggest festival here that draws pilgrims and tourists is the Maghe purne, celebrated in March/April every year and Chho-Tsho, celebrated in October.
