Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya shares an international boundary with Bangladesh on south and its east and north boundaries are shared with Assam. The district is rich in natural beauty and scenery. Some of the places of interest are Nartiang monoliths, Lumshong and Syndai caves, Liale falls, Thadlaskein Lake and the picturesque town of Jowai, among others. The district is rich in limestone deposits, leading to the establishment of several cement industries in the region. Agriculture is another popular occupation of the locals.
