About Lhodrak Kharchu Goemba
Lhodrakharchu Gonpa is located above the main town of Jakar and 3 KMs away from the town of Chamkhar. It was founded by Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche in 1984. At a very young age he was identified as the reincarnation of a Tibetan lama whose lineage dates back to the nearest disciples of the great 9th century master by H.H, the 14th Dalai Lama and H.H 16th Karampa. From this time the number of monks in this monastery has increased to about four hundred.
The monastery has become an important place to preserve the Tibetan Culture. The activities performed regularly by the monks of the monastery are memorizing daily prayers, reading, learning the melodies of sacred rituals, learning dharma dances, learning the use of ceremonial instruments. Also the art of making sacrificial objects, grammar, poetry, karika and also the basics of performing and instructing the practice of different stages of Tantra.
