About Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
The Sultanpur bird sanctuary is situated near Sultanpur village in the Gurgaon district of Haryana. Located 40 KMs from Dhaula Kuan, it’s a 30 minutes’ drive from Gurgaon which makes it a popular weekend getaway from New Delhi. This park is famous for its migratory as well as resident birds. Approximately, 250 species of Birds are found at Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. Migratory species reach here after covering incredible distances, since their home lands in Europe, Siberia and Central Asia become inhabitable due to cold temperatures, snow covered grounds and frozen lakes. They arrive in the park around the month September. These birds use the park as a resting place during the early summer months of March and April. The sanctuary basically covers a huge area full of marshes and jungle. There is an entrance gate and a viewing tower. This place proves to be a much needed getaway from the dizzy traffic and endless noise and pollution of Delhi/Gurgaon and helps us witness nature in all her finest.
