About TTD Gardens
Sprawling across 460 acres of land, TTD Gardens or Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is the ornamental landscape with beautifully laid out flower garden. You can see four mist chambers where the flower plants where hybridized and mutated and later planted in the garden. Nearly 10 lakh plants where propagated annually in TTD garden.
This garden meets the demand of flower which are used for decorative and Pujas in all temples in Thirumala and Tirupathi. Housing 200 varieties of flowers, the garden was believed to be established in 14th century by Sri Ramanuja and Sri Andalwar (disciple of Sri Ramanuja) under the name of Dasa Nambis who use to make garlands for “Sri Venkateshwara Swamy”. The garden also has many water tanks and ponds which serve not only as irrigation source for garden but also a perennial water supply for devotees who visits the Thirumala Temple. TTD Garden harvests approximately 500 kg of flowers like roses, lotuses, Chrysanthemus, davana, Tulasi, Exora, Kangambaram etc daily to the temples.
