About Piyali Island
Located 72 kilometers from Kolkata, Piyali is considered the gateway to Sunderbans National Park. Piyali river flows through lush green paddy fields before joining Matla river. Not far from Sunderbans, Piyali is a remote and tranquil island, covered by mangrove forests. This is a great place for bird watching as island is home to a variety of bird species. Boating on the river, visit to Piyali Dam and Ramkrishna Ashram near Kaikhali are some of the activities you could do while here.
The Piyali delta is a great holiday and picnic destination, which houses a tourist center, several accommodation options and offers easy accessibility.
