About Chintamoni Kar Bird Sanctuary
Located south of Kolkata city, Chintamoni Kar Bird Sanctuary is a little known sanctuary which is home to a number of bird species, such as Asian Koel, Little Egret, Streak-throated Woodpecker, Common Hawk Cuckoo and Emerald Dove among many others. The entire garden is renowned for many bird species, butterflies, orchids and ferns. Initially the area belonged to private owners and later was acquired by the government and sanctuary was opened for public.
