About Guganathaswamy Temple
A little known temple right in the middle of the city is actually a very old (1000yrs) temple said to be built by the great king Raja Raja Cholan, who built the world famous Brahadeeswara temple of Tanjore. This religiously revered temple is an elegant yet majestic structure that carries numerous stone inscriptions of historical significance and is an important stop over for history enthusiasts and pilgrims alike.
Tourists are allowed for visit from 6.00 A.M. to 11.15 AM. and from 5.00 pm to 8.45 p.m.
