About Kotilingeshwara Swamy Temple
A short drive or bus journey from the town of Kakinada, the temple Kotipalli Kotilingeswara is dedicated to the giving and the worship or lingas. The linga, for those not familiar with Hinduism, is a small image of a god, an idol a mark, sign, token, an emblem or a badge. A focal point of the temples activities is its giant ‘linga’, which stands 33m or 108 feet tall. Each year, there’s a pilgrimage to the temple and dedications are made in the form of smaller linga. Counted in 2008, there were 8.6million lingas over an area of 13 acres.
