About Chashme Shahi Garden
Chashme Shahi or Chashmashahi, meaning royal spring constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632, it backs onto the lake Dal. Taken from a number of different designs and influences, different part of the garden being Persian, parts being Mughal, parts traditional Kashmiri. All combine to some considerable effect, Aldous Huxley the great British novelist and poet once commented “the little Chashma Shahi is architecturally the most charming of the gardens near Srinagar“. So, with an endorsement like that, what are you waiting for?
