Moodabidri or Moodabidiri is a unique town with a unique characteristic of 18 lakes, 18 temples, 18 Jaina Basadis and 18 roads connecting various villages. This town is more famous for the Jain religious spots thus got its name Jain Kashi. The most famous is the Tilaka Tribhuvana Chudamani Basadi renowned for its architectural marvel of varieties of the pillars in this Basadi thus famous as Thousand Pillars temple. Other Jain monuments here are Guru Basadi, Ammanavara Basadi and a 3.5 m high idol of Parshwanath. Other than these there are Hanuman temple and Gowri temple that too see the tourists rush.
Savira Kamba Basadi is one of the most famous of them all. "Savira Kamba" meaning "1000 pillars" in Kannada.
