About Vishnu Samudra
It is also know as the Big Tank of Belur. The Big Tank was built under the reign of Narasimha Raya. The steps around the edge of the water was built later to allow tourists and worshippers to climb down to use the sacred water for worship purposes. The tank is used to this day in the daily worship of the temple.
