About Kapileshwara Temple
Being famously known as “Kasi of South”, Kapileshwara Temple is an important temple in Belgaum. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and major crowd puller in Belgaum. The main sanctum sanctorum has a flat Peetham over which Lord Shiva is incarnated as Shiv Ling. This temple was established by Kitturu Chanamlappa Shivalingappa in 1710. Inside the premise of temple there are shrines for Guru Datt, Shri Saibaba, Ganesha and Navgrahas. The Shiv Ling of Kapileshwara Temple of Belgaum is one among 12 Jyotirlings. The footfalls of devotees will be high during Shravan and Mahashivratri.
