About Vasco da Gama
Named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama, this city is located in Goa on the west coast of India. It’s a plain city with the church of St. Andrews, built 400 years ago, being the most visited place. Vasco is famous for Murmagao Port which is 4 Kms away. Bogmalo beach is the most famous beach and has luxury and mid-range hotels for accommodation.
The Indian Naval Aviation Museum located in Vasco is a must visit for everyone and displays fighter aircrafts and other navy exhibits. One can also go for Kayaking or Diving in Vasco. Zuari beach, Japanese garden, Velsao beach, Baina beach, Santhgiri Ayurvedic Clinic and Spa and Vasco’s municipal market are the other attractions which the city has to offer.
The best places to eat in the city include Z Rooftop Lounge Bar and Grill, Grapevine multi-cuisine restaurant, Anantashram, Pleasure Pie Cakes and Coffee and Ori Pan Asian Cuisine. Vasco is well connected and easily accessible from other cities of Goa.
Dabolim airport, the only airport in Goa is situated at a distance of 4 km from Vasco Da Gama. Vasco Da Gama Railway Station is one of the main railway stations in Goa and most important trains stop here. Many budget hotel are present near the railway station. Mormugao Port, a natural harbour is one of the important ports with container terminal on the west coast of India.
Vasco Da Gama is one of the main commercial hubs of Goa and not so important in terms of tourism. The Naval Aviation Museum and Bogmallo Beach are the two prime tourist attraction in this part of Goa. Bogmallo Beach is a venue for water sports as well.
