Akal Wood Fossil Park , Jaisalmer
About Akal Wood Fossil Park
A short taxi or rickshaw ride from town. This is a small reservation area devoted to the fossil remains of the Jurassic era. Roughly scattered around the hillside which plays host to the park, are the spikey and petrified remains of the 180 million year old tree trunks. Once a forest, then covered with a saline solution, this moonscape is a natural oditity bound to impress.
