About Qila Mubarak

One of the fascinating sightseeing of Bathinda, Qila Mubarak dates back to 9th-11th century. The fort has more historical significance. It was believed that King Kanishka, while ruling the North India, had established Qila Mubarak Fort along with Raja Dab. This belief came to existence when archaeological surveys stated that the fort bricks belong to Kushanas Era.  The fort served as residence for Sri Gobind Singh Ji. Also Razia Sultana, the first Empress of India, was imprisoned within this fort after dethroning her. You can the fort has a Gurudwara within its premises. It was Maharaja Amar Singh, who built the interior sections of Qila Mubarak which is termed as Quila Androon. The fort was built of typical Sikh Palace architecture. Expanded across 10 acres of land, the fort houses a Guest House called Ran Baas and Darbar Hall called Divan Khana. Inspite of being built in ancient period, the fort has perfect underground Sewerage System.
