Amer Fort , Jaipur
About Amer Fort
Amer Fort rests on a hill above the Maota lake. Walk, or take an elephant, up the steps towards this glorious golden structure. More than just a fort, the complex includes palaces, gardens and temples. The fort was built by Raja Man Singh in 1592. Approaching the fort, it is easy to see why it is called Amber Fort; it has the golden color of so many buildings in Rajasthan. The color comes from the red sandstone materials used to build the fort.
