Located next to the Ujjayanta Palace, Jagannath Temple is famous not only from the pilgrim’s point of view but also a remarkable architectural feat. The pillars are crowned by square and pyramidal cones. The temple is decorated with bright orange structured Shikharas. Jagannath Temple exterior is a wonderful example of fusion of Hindu and Arabic style of architecture.
Temple is an eminent shrine is dedicated to Hindu Gods Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. It is said that the idol of Neel madhav or Lord Jagannath at Puri have been donated from this shrine. Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya had built the temple in the 19th century. The temple is ornate with illuminated orange structured Shikharas and the structure is inspired by the Islamic architectural style.
There is nice exhibition in the form of lovely decorations on the life of Lord Krishna along with beautiful statues of many Hindu Gods and Goddesses in the temple complex. There are also arrangements for staying in the temple complex for devotees who come from outside Agartala.
