About Hinglaj Fort
Hinglaj Fort is an historic citadel located near village in the Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh. The fort has a history attached with the Hingara clan in Afghanistan. The fort has been named after the goddess Hinglaj, who is the kuldevi of Kshatriyas. You can find a lot of monuments and treasured sculptures at the fort. Some of the illustrious sculptures at the fort are of Nandi and Uma-Maheshwari. These sculptures had been sent to France and United States for displaying it in India festivals. The Hinglajgarh is known for its brilliant artisanship of sculptures for more than 800 years. During unearthing, some statues recovered from the fort belonged to the Guptas period to Parmara period. The most ancient sculptures were from 4-5th century AD.
