About Cuttack
Cuttack is located in the state of Orissa and is the second largest city in the state. Orissa has a magnificent history and is situated at the confluence of the rivers Mahanadi and Kathjuri Rivers. The city covers an area of around 3932 sq.km and is the administrative headquarter of the territory. Cuttack derives its name from “kataka”, which means the fort. The city is known as Babban Bazaar the city of 52 markets and 53 streets. Every year in the month of November, the city hosts the famous Bali festival, which celebrated on the banks of the river Mahanadi, this festival is celebrated to mark the trade relations between Orissa and Bali that started long ago. People from all over the state come to this festival to display and sell their products and shop for other goods. The city of Cuttack has been marked on the books of history as the birthplace of the famous freedom fighter Subash Chandra Bose.
Cuttack is an excellent place to shop, it is known for art--the silver filigree work. Thin silver wires designed into exquisite jewelry, decorative items and utensils will simply mesmerize you.
