About Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary
The Dalma wildlife sanctuary is located in the Dalmia Hills, which is 14 kms away from the heart of Jamshedpur city. The Sanctuary is situated on the Dalmia Hills which has an altitude of 3000 sq.ft above the sea level with the Subarnarekha River flowing within. The sanctuary was inaugurated by Sanjay Gandhi in 1975 and spread over 195 kms of area. The site is ideal for trekkers and wildlife lovers. The sanctuary is a home for barking deers, hyena , leopards, Mouse Deer, Sloth Bear, Monkey, Giant Squirrel etc. The place is both rich in flora and fauna. The sanctuary is covered with thick green forests with trees of Terminalias, Jamun, Dhaura, Kendu and Karam. The sanctuary has a small shrine of Lord Shiva, which is visited by hundreds of devotees at Shivratri.
