About Chausath Yogini Temple
Chausat Yogini Temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga is guarded by sixty-four attendants or manifestations of the goddess, known as Yogini. At the center of the temple resides the idols of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. The temple is said to be constructed in the 10th century, during the Kalchuri dynasty. Not all of the 64 statues are intact, most of them have been destroyed. The temple complex can be reached by climbing about 150 steps and the courtyard presents beautiful views of the surrounding. The temple is not very far from Bhedaghat and can be considered a part of the day trip to Dhuandhar waterfalls and Bhedaghat.
