About Lakshmi Narayan Temple - Orchha
The Laxminarayan Temple is one of the main three temples in Orchha and dedicated to Goddess Laxmi, the Hindu Goddess of wealth. This temple was constructed by Vir Singh Deo in 1622 and renovated in 1793 by Prithvi Singh. Temple architecture depicts both, a fort and a temple. The most exquisite painting of the Bundela School on the wall of this temple is worth seeing. Paintings depict events from Sage Valmiki’s, Rama Charitra Manas and India’s first battle for Independence fought in 1857. There is no idol of the Goddess kept inside the temple now.
