About Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai otherwise termed as the New Bombay is the largest planned township around the world and was established in the year 1972 on west coast state Maharashtra in India. This well-intended satellite city is the Urban Township of India. After independence, a vital decision was taken to minimize the cramming in Mumbai, an island city, as it was really difficult to expand it beyond certain limits. CIDCO, City and Industrial Development Corporation, was initially set up in 1971. With the help of CIDCO, lands and 86 small villages were acquired on Konkan coast which were later blended together and developed as Navi Mumbai. CIDCO also constructed railway stations, creek bridges, expressway in Navi Mumbai to enable comfortable transportation in New Mumbai.
Navi Mumbai comprises approximately 14 nodes among which Kharghar, Kamothe, Panvel and Kalamboli are vital nodes. In Navi Mumbai, only the community roads, water, electricity, etc. were provided by CIDCO whereas the infrastructures were designed and developed by Private Sectors under the surveillance of CIDCO.
