Shivanasamudra falls is located in Mandya District near Bangalore and Mysore. These falls lie on River Kaveri which falls to create two amazingly beautiful waterfalls individually called Barachukki & Gaganachukki.
Shivanasamudra is a tiny island town in Mandya District. The river Cauvery which after flowing through rocks and canyons of Deccan Plateau, is divided by this town into twin waterfalls. Shivanasamudra Waterfall is of segmented type of waterfall. This means, the river course is segmented into two or more rivulets before pouring down the mountain as waterfall. The entire width of this waterfall is 305 meters and it downfalls from the altitude of 98 meters.
There is a watch tower near the waterfall. Also you can see many ancient temples scattered here and there in Shivanasamudra town. This waterfall is renowned to possess one of the Asia’s first hydro-electric power station.
