About Bharmour
This peaceful looking hamlet out of postcard was once the capital of the Chamba Kingdom under Raja Meru Verman, the Rajput king of Chamba until it was moved to the present day Chamba city. It was also called as Brahmapura probably after the deity of Brahmaani Devi temple.
There are 84 temples here that are dedicated for 84 Mahasiddhas, located along the way to the Brahmaani Devi temple, which sits at the end of a tricky trail. The two other ancient temples here are Lord Ganesh temple and Lakhna Devi temple. The mystic valley surrounding Bharmour is considered to belong to Lord Shiva and is sometimes referred to as Shiv Bhumi.
This is the home of the legendary tribes- the Gaddis and so is also called as Gadderan. The more famous annual pilgrimage to Manimakesh Lake at the foot of Champa Kailash and Manimakesh peak starts from here.
