About Gaumukh
Gomukh or Goumukh is a terminus of Gangotri Glacier and is considered the point of origination of Bagirathi River or the Ganga river. Goumukh translates as ‘mouth of a cow.’ Crisp white mountains stand in the background, freshwater flows from a mouth in the mountain said to resemble that of a cow. This is the start of the Bhagarathi river, the air is cool in your lungs and mist blows across the valley. Goumukh is about twenty two kilometers trek from Gangotri. While on the trek to Goumukh enjoy the Chir trees expanse at the Chirbasa. The route after Bhujbasa is quite difficult as it is a boulder zone. Enjoy the ShivlingaMountains throughout the way.
