About Mongar Dzong
Constructed in 1930, the Mongar Dzong replaced the original Shongar Dzong. The Mongar Dzong has two entrances as the administrative and monk bodies share the similar courtyard, but it will be not the same as the construction of an administrative hall with a residential quarter for 60 monks will be done. The central tower of this dzong is the one that dates back to a very old age. Visit this place in the month of November to see the Mongar Annual festival and continues for a one long week. There are about four lhakhangs in the Central tower as well as a chapel and a Sangay Lhakhang.
