- The Karni Mata Temple, also called Rat Temple, is located at Deshnoke, 30 km from Bikaner city, which is in the north Indian state of Rajasthan, east of the border with Pakistan, which is surrounded by the Thar Desert. The temple is famous and home to approximately 25000 black rats that live in the temple; the holy rats are called Kabbas. The temple has huge, intricately carved silver gates, which Maharaja (King) Ganga Singh has donated.
- The National Research Centre on Camel is located on the outskirts, about 8 km from Bikaner city. It was established in 1984 by the Central Government under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to promote research and development on camels. The farm extends over 2000 acres of semi-arid land, and it is the best place to learn about camels. The research center here constantly researches animals to make their lives better. Viewing camels here is an amazing experience.
